'Padmaavat' box-office collection Day 6

Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh starrer 'Padmaavat' has managed to win the hearts of the audience and critics with stellar performances from the cast and the sheer brilliance of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali that took this film to a different level altogether. According to a recent report on BoxofficeIndia., the film has earned an estimated Rs 13.25 crore on its sixth day, thus taking its total collection to Rs 137 crore.

The film which had a blistering start in Mumbai and South India has now also excelled in the Northern regions. Bhansali's masterpiece is reportedly in the running to become one of the highest grosser of all time, after 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion'. The multi-starrer did not release in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana after facing protests from fringe groups, but still managed to get a strong footing at the box-office.

The film has already reached the top spot to become Bollywood's highest opening weekend overseas by collecting nearly $11.60 million. The film which collected Rs 18 crore on its first day at the box-office, entered the Rs 100 crore club in its first weekend in India alone.

The film revolves around Rani Padmavati, the wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, who is known for her beauty and valour in 13th century India. She captures the fancy of the reigning Sultan of Delhi, the tyrant Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh), who becomes obsessed with her and goes to great lengths to fulfil his greed.

Several Bollywood celebrities have come out praising the film and even took to social media to laud the performances of the actors and to call the film a visual delight because of its impeccable sets and background, which is one of the high points of every Bhansali film.
Actor Ranveer Singh, who is currently riding high on the success of his latest release "Padmaavat", said it takes immense courage to direct a film of such a magnitude. Ranveer on Tuesday treated his fans to a question and answer session, where one user asked him if he would ever write or direct a historical like "Padmaavat", directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. "It takes a lot of courage to helm a film and even more to helm one of such magnitude. I reckon it will be quite a few years before I become as brave and courageous as my maestro," he responded.
